Q: Tom you been heard to say “Nice guys can build cool bikes too.” What exactly is it you mean by that?
A: A lot of guys do things to get attention that has little or nothing to do with their ability to build a cool custom bike. Yet, some people choose a custom builder based on their “Bad’ reputation’. At BaggerWorks, we are just not like that. We are very focused on the customer, what their wants and desires are in custom bagger and how we can help them achieve that. Our customers seek us out because we build a cool bike that is comfortable and fun to ride, and not because we did something we probably shouldn’t have.
Q: How does the customer experience translate to a better bike?
A: People come in all shapes and sizes and so do motorcycles, but when you sit down and talk things through, clients usually have something specific in mind and that is why they are talking with a custom builder. By taking the time to listen not only in the beginning, but through the building process you can achieve exactly what they are looking for. You don’t want someone to take off a long trip on bike they are not really happy with, it will just be uncomfortable from the start.
Q: A lot of bikes become showpieces and are never ridden. Is that your intent with BaggerWorks to focus showpieces or ridability?
A: We believe they are both showpieces and very rider friendly. A bike that looks great will always turn some heads, but one that looks cool and is a blast to ride are ones we want to build. That’s why we concentrate only on baggers. Our clients enjoy riding, some around town and some across the country. Either way, I believe that by building them a distinctive bike that is also fun to ride, delivers the satisfaction the owner is looking for when they come to BaggerWorks.
Q: What impact has technology had on your bikes?
A: Technology gives the client more feature options, Now we can incorporate DVD, GPS, LCD much more. We can move the fuel gages to the mirrors and keep the gas tank sleek and clean or go pure old school and leave all the gadgets off. Again it comes back to what the client is looking for.
Q; Tom if you could talk directly to someone out there looking to build a custom bagger what would want them to know?
A: I guess the biggest thing is that it is okay for you to have input after all it is your bike they are building. Whether it is us at Bagger Works or someplace else, make sure you communicate what you are hoping to achieve and you will most likely be happier with the results. I guess the other thing is call BaggerWorks, we would be glad to talk with you and discuss what your dream bagger might be.
